Job Summary:

The Drivetrain Specialist works with the Workshop Manager, Senior Technicians, Engineering Department, and other VSC personnel to ensure  the timely preparation and/or repair of driveline components for Rally competition vehicles.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Diagnose, Maintain and repair driveline components to exacting specifications
  • Troubleshoots and repair complex equipment problems. 
  • Keeps an up to date inventory of parts and components necessary to maintain drivetrain components. 
  • Keeps accurate, up to date records on drivetrain component repairs and/or component replacement 
  • Repairs hydraulic jacks and associated equipment as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, often-changing motorsports environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) or related software. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Reliability and punctuality is necessary for the success of this role.


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Accreditation from a technical school or applicable skilled trades program along with 4-6 years experience required.
  • VSC Senior Technicians may be considered for this position (Specialist)
  • Performs work under minimal supervision.
  • Handles complex issues and problems; refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. 
  • May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.


Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this position, individuals may frequently be required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear.  
  • The individual must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  
  • Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus as required
